We are looking for a dynamic and driven Business Development Director (Both in the USA and the Netherlands).

This role will be focused on establishing and expanding the visibility of Batavia Biosciences in a defined geographical market. In addition, the business development director’s responsibilities include building and strengthening of both internal and external relationships, managing customer relations, and implementing strategies designed to increase revenues and acquire new business opportunities

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identifying and developing new business opportunities for Batavia that are in line with the company’s strategy;
  • Develop a comprehensive annual Business Plan for your geographic and/or segment focus complete with SMART action plans and schedules, which identify targets to reach new business development goals and objectives ;
  • Building and maintaining relationships with both internal and external clients, and marketing departments;
  • Researching of new markets and/or emerging market trends and alignment with the internal stakeholder at Batavia on how this can fit within the existing Batavia strategies. Recommending new products and services, proposes and developing new strategic partnerships;
  • Manages the commercial sales process starting from the first contact until the final execution of the contract, including the proposal writing and required contractual negotiations.
  • Develops a pipeline of sales opportunities and a further expansion of leads & opportunities through intensive networking and representation of Batavia at events and conferences.
  • Responsible to annually meet your individual sales targets;
  • Support both Operations and Project Management with the generation of repeated business.
  • Identify potential and generate leads/opportunities and follow up in a timely manner;
  • Build customer relationships through direct contact, meetings, customer events, industry events, and professional relationships, Maintain long term relationships with strategic customers;
  • Makes sure that the customer relationship management (CRM) system is up-to-date and that all relevant customer related data are entered in the system;
  • Communicate company’s mission, vision and values as well as our distinctive value proposition in a manner that creates business opportunities s;

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least a M.Sc. degree within Life Sciences or a related  study direction. An advanced degree (MBA, Ir. or Ph.D.) is preferred;
  • At least 7+ years of experience within business development with a proven track record;
  • Experience with working in a CRO/service delivery environment, preferably within clinical, cell culturing, USP/DSP, and/or bioprocessing;
  • Excellent relationship building, presentation and communications skills
  • Energetic self-starter, results oriented and the ability to work effectively in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Passionate and self-motivated to assist with driving deals to a successful conclusion and to deliver quality results
  • The ability to influence and work successfully with varied audiences, combined with proven negotiation skills
  • Clear understanding of the buying cycles that are driving the decision making process for customers
  • Excellent analytical skills to understand market dynamics, determine appropriate strategies, and identify opportunities for growth and improvement;
  • Used to work in an international environment;
  • Fluent in English (both verbally and written), additional languages (German, Dutch, Spanish) are preferred;
